To whom it may concern,
I would love the opportunity to apply for a physical therapist position there at the Northern Colorado Medical Center of the Rockies. I believe that my excellent academic record throughout high school and also college makes me a good candidate for this job. Throughout high school I maintained a high level of academic achievements while volunteering and putting in countless hours of community service. I need to have a steady income to support myself while I start my career.
I graduated from Roosevelt High School with a G.P.A. of 3.87 on a 4.0 scale, and was in the top ten of my graduating class, and also participated in many extracurricular activities at RHS. I took two AP classes as a senior such as Government, Calculus, and also a weighted year long course of Human Anatomy and Physiology. At Western State College of Colorado I was enrolled into the honors program where I had the opportunity to work with many people and gain great social skill as well as taking more courses where I gained more academic awards. At WSC I studied Physical Therapy and graduated with a G.P.A. of 3.5. I now know and understand the medical terms and how to work with patients. I will put everything I have learned while at school into my patients.
While my time in Gunnison, Colorado I volunteered at the local hospital where I spent numerous hours learning, watching, and helping the physical therapists there, mostly working with children. I was a part of the Western State volleyball team, and as we traveled and my teammates had problems with their knees, ankles and sometimes back, I was able to assist them and do a little therapy to help them recover. I have had some experience in this field while helping out, and putting my knowledge to use. Helping people is what I love to do, and makes my life enjoyable. I love to watch patients grow out of their pain and become great while overcoming injuries that may have slowed them down in life.
I hope to become a part of the staff, and be a big asset to the program. I am very committed to being the best I can be. I am convinced that all of these factors make me a good candidate for this position. If you have any questions I am available at 970-217-2195, or at volleyballchamp4@hotmail.com. Thank you for your time, and consideration, it is very much appreciated.
Sincerely,

Sami Fuentes

What qualitites and attitudes do you possess that makes you a good role model in the classroom and at school activities?
I have made the choice to become an inspiring student-athlete who is relentless, responsible, honest, reliable, and very dedicated. I call myself a leader that takes pride in my accomplishments, and encourages others to do the same. In the classroom I am the student to always ask questions, even if I understand and just asking the question for someone who does not. In all of my classes I turn in all of my work on time, and show my classmates that it is ok to be a good student, or to be a "nerd." In group projects, I am a classmate that the other students can trust to do my part and even take home projects overnight, they can trust me with their grades. Outside the classroom I also believe I am a leader. Whether it be at a basketball game, football game, or any other event, I am the girl cheering, and supporting my fellow classmates while showing school spirit. I can get the crowd up on their feet showing school support. I am a volleyball player and either at practices or games I lead , push, and support all of the girls in the program. I have a very positive attitude on and off the court, and like they say a positive attitude is contageous.

What are your educational goals?
I have set a goal to graduate from Western State College, and become a physical therapist. While I spend time in the classroom at Western, I want to educate myself as much as possible, and learn everything taught to me. Another goal I set for myself is to pass all of my courses with a B or higher. I am going to take classes that are challenging to me and even some that are completely out of my box. I plan to adjust to the college life, and learn more as a student-athlete. Even though I will be traveling a ton with volleyball, I am going to stay caught up with my classes and be the best student I can be.

What makes you a good candidate for this scholarship?
I am a reliable student, who is very trustworthy, loyal, and responsible and I believe I am a good candidate for this scholarship. I am a hardworking student and my work ethic is tremendous. Although I have had a few bumps in my road at home, I realize I can take on anything that comes my way. I am a greatful student, and very appreciative of every oppertunities given to me.
